Dues and donations can be e-transferred to Sheila Finlay at sdatfinlay@hotmail.com, – with the security question, – “what is the name of our lake?” and answer “Methuen”. Your generous donations allow us to put on a full calendar of activities and events over the summer.
Website
We continue to add resources and links to our fledgling website.
Members resources and the MLCA Gallery is password protected. The password is “havelock” all lower case. The password should only be shared with association members and families.
On the website we have…
- The locations of fire pumps and defibrillators shown on a map
- Calendar of events
- Lake history
- Previous newsletters
- Marketplace where you can give away or sell unwanted items
- Emergency contact information
- And more
If you wish to change your contact details, – you can either do it through the link on the website or use the association email.
Alert on Lake
To summon help in an emergency, – 3 long blasts on a horn, pause, 3 more long blasts, pause. And then continue using a horn in this fashion until help arrives.
Fire Pumps
We have two new portable fire pumps on the lake (see map on website). Orientation dates coming in June via an email.

If anyone can help Dwight with the fireworks, – please let us know. Ideally someone who can commit beyond a single year and may be prepared to take this on in the future.
Picnic Island Cleanup
Here is your chance to show off your Rolls Royce whipper snipper, and other bush whacking gear, at the picnic site cleanup at 9am on Saturday July the 29th. Last year we had it done in record time with many hands making light work.
Civic Celebration Picnic and AGM
The celebration picnic and AGM is on August the 5th on the picnic island. If you haven’t already paid your association dues, – bring cash and a wad extra for the prize draw. Hotdogs will be provided. And this is a potluck, – desserts. Please consider items that won’t melt in the heat. Order of service. 1pm arrival, 1:30 to 2pm games followed by hotdogs and sugar fest, fishpond, AGM and prize draw. To sign up little fisherman for the fishpond, – please use the sheet on the website under the Civic Weekend Activities tab.
If anyone has an old dock they would like to donate that is suitable to be fashioned into a landing dock on the island, – so that we don’t have to leap or pole vault onto the lakeshore, – let us know and we will take it off your hands.
Fishing Derby
Barry Noble will be inspecting your fish closely at weigh-in ensuring there are no weights in the abdomen of your catch. The fishing derby will be held on August the 12th from 10am to 730pm. If the weather is horrible, Barry will switch the day to the 13th.
